Accessibility Statement

Karlsruher Messe- und Kongress GmbH endeavors to make its websites accessible in accordance with Section 10 Paragraph 1 of the State Disability Equality Act (L-BGG).

This accessibility statement applies to all websites operated by Messe Karlsruhe as the organizer.

1. Status of compliance with the requirements

This website is partially compliant with Section 10 Paragraph 1 L-BGG due to the following incompatibilities and exceptions.

2. Non-barrier-free content

The content listed below is not barrier-free for the following reasons:

a) Incompatibility with Section 10 Paragraph 1 L-BGG

9.1.1.1a Alternative text for control elements

The following control elements do not yet contain alternative text:

  • the arrow icon for navigation to the top of the page,
  • the four social media icons,
  • the magnifying glass icon/ the button for submitting the search in the header,
  • the icon with the three lines/ “hamburger” menu symbol,
  • the icons for the submenu drop-downs

9.1.1.1c Empty alt attributes for layout graphics

The following layout graphics partially contain content in the alt attribute:

  • the icons in the “Direct access” module,
  • the introductory, linked graphics for messages,
  • the icons for “Downloads”,
  • the links in the “Contact” module,
  • the teaser images, images in the event teaser boxes,
  • the icons in the "Share event now" links in the program

9.1.3.1a HTML structural elements for headings

The following HTML structural elements are not correctly marked:

  • search entries and messages,
  • heading "Register for the news service"

9.1.3.1b HTML structural elements for lists

The following list is not marked with the HTML structural element for lists:

  • the list of tiles in the "Direct access" module

9.1.3.1h Labeling of form elements can be determined programmatically

The following form elements cannot be determined programmatically:

  • when registering for the newsletter:
    • the input fields,
    • drop-down lists
    • the two form elements from the "Please select the desired newsletter" group,
  • the search input field

9.1.3.2 Sensible order

The expanded and collapsed detail areas for the individual services and categories and the "Details" button of subservices in the "Data protection settings" dialog are not independent of the display in a sensible and useful order.

9.1.3.5 Input fields for user data convey the purpose

The input fields in the newsletter registration area do not allow a semantically clear, language-independent determination of their purpose.

9.1.4.1 Can be used without colors

It is not possible to distinguish between active and regular filters in the galleries without perceiving the color.

9.1.4.3 Contrasts of texts sufficient

The following texts do not have sufficient brightness contrasts in all states:

  • the text "Your search term" in the search field,
  • when focusing on elements of the main navigation using pointer devices or when marking them as the current page,
  • the filter title texts,
  • the text "Search" in the search field of the page content,
  • the white text against a gray background in the teaser boxes of the galleries,
  • the status message "No gallery found",
  • the labels of active category buttons in the gallery list,
  • when hovering over the days or categories in the galleries, and the event location in the opened dialog in the program

9.1.4.4 Text can be enlarged to 200%

Enlarged text moves into the area of ​​the parallax background, which means that content is lost.

9.1.4.11 Contrasts of graphics and graphical controls sufficient

The visual representation of active and regular filters and the small gray circle with the cross included to deselect the selected filter in the gallery list do not meet the contrast requirement.

9.1.4.12 Text spacing adjustable

The following text elements lose content or functionality when adjusting the text spacing:

  • the text "Menu" on viewports with a smaller width shifts,
  • the body text in the "CTA" module is significantly longer than the background of the boxes

9.1.4.13 Displayed content operable

The drop-down submenus of the navigation cannot be closed in the usual way.

9.2.1.1 Can be used without a mouse

The following buttons cannot be used without a mouse:

  • the button for submitting the search in the header,
  • the magnifying glass button for displaying the search field,
  • the magnifying glass button for submitting the search query,
  • the hamburger menu icon,
  • the icons for the drop-down submenus in the view for smaller viewport widths,
  • the drop-down submenus of the navigation,
  • hyperlinks as buttons,
  • the buttons in the pagination of the “CTA Gallery” module,
  • the checkbox elements in the newsletter registration

9.2.2.2 Moving content can be switched off

Videos in the header and the rotation in the “CTA Gallery” module are neither limited to 5 seconds nor can they be switched off.

9.2.4.1 Areas can be skipped

The following areas of the Navigation cannot be skipped or the page structure is clear regardless of the display:

  • the main navigation,
  • the texts of the search entries and messages that are visually recognizable as headings,
  • several areas of the search page marked as navigation

9.2.4.3 Logical sequence of keyboard operation

The following keyboard operations are not logical and comprehensible:

  • the focus and scrolling behavior after interaction in the data protection settings,
  • the jump to invisible links in the messages,
  • the keyboard focus for the categories and letters,
  • the infinite scrolling in the gallery teaser boxes,
  • the keyboard accessibility for the event teaser boxes in the program

9.2.4.4 Meaningful link texts

The following links do not have meaningful link texts:

  • the button for navigation to the top of the page,
  • some links,
  • the pagination in the “CTA Gallery” module,
  • the links in the “CTA Text” module,
  • in the breadcrumb navigation,
  • in the download boxes,
  • in the "Contact" module,
  • links in the program

9.2.4.7 Current position of the focus clearly

The following terms in the main navigation do not make the current position of the focus clear:

  • the blue focus frame in the "CTA Text" module,
  • the checkbox elements in the newsletter registration,
  • the focus frame around interactive elements in Instagram and YouTube areas
  • the keyboard focus for the category and letter filters in the galleries

9.2.5.3 Visible label part of the accessible name

In the data protection dialog, the visible labels do not appear in the accessible name of the control element.

9.3.1.2 Words and sections in other languages ​​highlighted

The following English words in the data protection dialog are not highlighted accordingly:

  • in the gallery list,
  • in the program,
  • on the website in general

9.3.2.2 No unexpected context change when entering

An unexpected context change occurs in the newsletter registration form.

9.3.3.1 Error detection

In the newsletter registration form, the error messages are not programmatically linked to the corresponding fields.

9.3.3.2 Labels of form elements available

The following elements are partly not in the correct order, partly without a visible and programmatically determinable label:

  • the input fields,
  • drop-down lists,
  • checkboxes,
  • the descriptive text for mandatory fields,
  • when registering for the newsletter

9.4.1.2 Name, role, value available

The following elements are not implemented in such a way that semantic information is available:

  • the pagination of the “CTA Gallery” module,
  • the email input field when registering for the newsletter,
  • the button for submitting the search,
  • the active page for messages,
  • text elements “category” and “A-Z”,
  • the marking of the currently filtered letter and the category in the gallery list,
  • the expand and collapse elements of the “Accordion” module and the buttons for the days, the categories, “Learn more”, “Share event now”, for closing the Event detail dialog, as well as copying the direct URL,
  • the active day and the selection of days in the program

9.4.1.3 Status messages programmatically available

The following status messages are not marked with suitable roles and properties and can be determined programmatically:

  • after submitting the newsletter form,
  • when copying the ID to request consent data in the data protection dialog,
  • if there are no search hits in the search and the gallery search,
  • the display of the number of events that is updated by filtering and the message "Link copied" in the program

11.7 User-defined settings

The font size is given in pixels.
